ABOUT ME
Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, Luisa discovered her passion for singing at an early age. Led by mentors and teachers in the community, she developed her skills at The University of Queensland and Griffith Queensland Conservatorium of Music. She now embarks on an international career, splitting her time between Asia, Australia and Europe.
MY STORYLuisa Tarnawski graduated from the Griffith Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2025, where she studied under the tutelage of Dr Margaret Schindler. She completed her Bachelor’s at the University of Queensland, with Dr Shaun Brown where she toured to Cairns and Tenterfield, founded the UQ Opera Society and performed a range of roles including La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), Beatrice (Three Decembers), Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Elettra (Idomeneo). A finalist in the Ethel Osborne and Margaret Nickson Prize, Luisa quickly found herself performing with local groups whilst still completing her studies. Keenly interested in innovative and new avenues of opera, Luisa premiered the virtual reality opera, Artemis (composed by Taana Rose) in the title role which was featured in the Qld XR Festival.
In 2024 Luisa was engaged in a range of performances including Violetta in the Cuskelly Summer School’s Opera Scenes, Gilda in an Excerpt from Rigoletto with Springboard Opera, Songs and Soirees with Vavachi Entertainment at Brisbane City Hall, Regional Touring with Brisbane Baroque and various state-wide performances with the Seven Sopranos. She also performed her first international role in Berlin, as Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica) as part of the Berlin Opera Academy.
In 2025, Luisa made her mark as a finalist in the International Music Grand Prix in New York, where she was awarded a Scholarship to attend the world-renowned AIMS program in Austria. There she was delighted to participate in local concerts, including a tribute to The World of Robert Stolz at the Kasematten Schlossbergbühne under the baton of Alfred Eschwe.
Reflecting her passion for modern opera, Luisa debuted the role of The Widow in Springboard Opera’s Australian Premiere of The Boor by Dominick Argento. After a sold out show, she’ll be touring the production regionally in 2026 and 2027.
She continues to be a featured performer in chamber music concerts, galas and operatic productions including further performances with Brisbane Baroque, Vavachi Entertainment and her debut of the role, La Contessa, in the upcoming Tyalgum Music Festival this September.
